Kayak introducing
The kayak is one of the oldest still existing vessels used originally by the Inuits to hunt and fish in arctic seas.
Manned with a double-paled paddle, it is different from the canoe (one-pale paddle) used by Native Americans on lakes and rivers for berry-picking, hunting, fishing but also as a means of transport to discover new territories.
In its modern use for leisure and competition, kayak covers many categories of whitewater (slalom, freestyle), water (polo, marathon) and sea (sea kayak, waveski surfing, racing…).
